May 23, 2020 – It has been some time since the last update on an outbreak, so I am making this one a BIG one – yesterday we received word that Rutgers Provosts have approved our request to re-open CVB starting immediately under modified SOPs (equipment has been distributed so everyone will have their own lab, minimal scheduled overlap, masks and gloves in common spaces such as restrooms and corridors, online meetings of more then 2 people, telecommuting for office work).
Both field and lab work are allowed. Yippee!
All labs at the Center for Vector Biology have been shutdown since April 10 to minimize SARS-CoV-2 transmission (the viral agent of COVID19). Two researchers designated as “essential” took care of the mosquito colonies but all research has been stopped.
